Courage is the power to remain who you are when the world pushes back. When a person commits to growth, they stop being convenient. Others cast doubt, contempt, and jealousy; they provoke and test, hoping the path will be abandoned.
Real courage is not dominance, not victory in conflict, not the warrior's pose. It is the power to remain loving and sovereign under pressure. To hold one's ground without raising the voice. To keep the work an offering, when the room would prefer it become a weapon.
According to certain European alchemical branches, courage corresponds to Ether, the fifth classical element, and to the development of the eighth chakra.
Visually, the piece draws from the iconography of the eighth chakra in the symbolic alchemy tradition: a pair of wings opening behind the heart chakra. The wings do not lift the figure away from the world. They make it possible to remain in it.
